I've seen so much hate for this game. A lot of people complaining that they don't like what happens to certain characters, People saying that they cried because of how sad/brutal certain scenes were, but that is what The Last of Us is. The Last of Us has always been a story about grief, and how people deal with it. Grief is a powerful emotion, and I believe that people playing this game are griefing alongside the characters, which is why this game is so hard to play. This installment reached even deeper and darker levels of emotion than the first. Which, although may not be what any of us wanted out of this game, is exactly what this game needed to do in order to further fill out its themes of grief and pain. I just hope that more people will give it a chance, and realize how special this game is, despite, and because of how negative and personal it can make you feel.
