This movie was a mess. Not only was it confusing; in the words of Davey Crocket, "It didn't even make good nonsense!" It's one thing to lead the viewer into a complicated and illogical plot, but to wind up in La-La land at the end is unforgiveable. It is Amy Adams worst movie. The flashbacks, alone, were confusing. She is sent a book by her ex-husband, a gory tale of how his wife and daughter are raped and murdered by a pair of hicks. As she's reading it, the flashbacks begin. At one point it is obvious she's with a man who is not her current husband. A hick sheriif helps her ex-husband track down the men. One is shot and one escapes. Later the second sociopath shoots the ex-husband, who lies on the ground dying. It seems obvious he is dead. So who really wrote the book? His ghost. At the end of the movie, Amy is sitting in a restaurant, waiting for someone. End of move....La-La Land!
