I see folks aren’t giving not so great reviews of this film. I think partially because we’re all critiquing from an adult standpoint.
I’m almost 28, not too far from 13 but also middle school memories aren’t that distant.
This film is for teenage girls, girls of color to be specific and that’s what makes it special.
What’s awesome about this film is that ‘little’ girls who don’t feel like they quite fit in finally has a voice. Little girls who love science are represented. Little girls who feel excluded are represented. The women that they think have it all, but were actually like them when they were kids are represented.
The overall message of being yourself rings true and is essential to young women growing confident within themselves.
This film isn’t for adults, it’s for kids.
Take your little girls to go see this and see them light up when they see Marsai stroll down the hallway in that cute lil suit.
They deserve to see this kind of content ❤️
