I was lucky to get to meet Martin at the beginning of his season back in the 80's at Jacobs Lake. Me and my friends hiked various trails in The Canyon several times and made a thirteen day trip through with Hatch back in the 80's. We filled one of their large rubber boats and I think the trip cost each of us $800 back then and that included the helicopter ride out and flight back to Hatch after the trip. I noticed recently that a three day trip is almost $1400 now. I wish I had booked a trip with Martin but there was a three year waiting list and the price was prohibitive for me at the time. He was a great guy, proud of his boats and enthusiastic about their capabilities. He spent quite a bit of time showing me the boat's design features. It was an honor to have met one of the legendary people that saved the Grand Canyon. The only thing wrong with this film is that it should be 90 minutes long.
