Books 1-6 were some of the best fantasy I have ever read, Robert Jordan was one of the most talented writers of his genre and his first six books in this series were utterly amazing, his stunning ability to tell a story and his wonderful development of complex characters like Rand, Mat, and Perrin. His writing embraces all of the tropes of fantasy and fans out into a full- fledged, modern fantasy series that serves as a model for others to come. But, this book, the Crossroads of Twilight, is the armpit of the series. This book sucks, the writing is dull, most of the book seemed like it was pointless description of rooms or clothing, nothing really important happened, it was just a dragged out continuation of everything that happened in the previous book. If you even look at the summaries on the wiki, it literally just says that all of the characters continue to do whatever they are doing... people just talk and do nothing, they just walk around, talk some more. Basically, this book is a huge filler book, an absolute slog to read, and just a transition with no buildup or tension, just people taking rather uneventful steps towards the next book which ties up some of the plot lines well. The POVCs don't do anything really, or the same thing every time you read about them, no one is getting any good character development, and nothing is going anywhere. I feel this book is a dreadful way to spend your time, this series is amazing, but this book spends its time on a lot of pointless stuff, so I'd recommend skimming or reading as fast as possible, don't mind missing things, don't waste your time and read it fast and don't worry about missing much, you won't. If you are a big fan of the series and you want to read it through thoroughly, you're in for a very wonderful time... and to Wheel of Time fans, this series is my favorite fantasy series and it will always be great, but this one book in it is actually bad, and it is, you can't argue it because I hated reading it and many Wheel of Time fans didn't like it either. If you are going to read this book, just know that it isn't the best one, but it doesn't take away from the amazing series and the Wheel of Time is still one of the best fantasy series of all time, just this book is not in any way good and it left me wanting characters to have developed differently and it made me wonder how it was thought a suitable sequel for the series. But the series get MUCH better, and don't be discouraged from reading the rest, the middle is a slog, but Brandon Sanderson and Robert Jordan finish it strong!
