Criminally un-finished at launch Battlefield 2042 is easily one of the worst games I've ever played. I fell in love with the series with BF1 and was hugely let down by BFV but BF2042 really takes the cake.
For starters, this game is so buggy that it's close to unplayable. Couldn't even get into a breakthrough game at launch because of a bug and when I did I spent the majority of my time tweaking my settings just so I could sprint.
The gunplay is abysmal as submachine guns r 2-shot and the assault rifles require you to unload a clip to get a kill not to mention the fact that hit-reg just doesn't exist at times. There are also like 20 guns after 2 years of development.
Vehicles dominate and the maps are so open that if you're on foot odds are a helicopter will tear you to pieces (also when vehicles shoot at u a bug freezes you in place to give the enemy a free kill).
The worst part of the game for me is how they butchered Breakthrough which is practically the same game mode as Operations from BF1 (which was amazing). The developers decided it would be a good idea to put an objective on a rooftop of a skyscraper where the defending team can just watch the handful of staircases and zip lines and fry you as you come up before you can even get a shot off. Oh, and they can have tanks dropped right onto the roof. I mean... it's not even fun to defend (unless you're a huge scumbag).
Also, the operators have to be the stupidest addition to a battlefield game like... ever. Everyone just selects whatever the hell they want so there's zero team play. literally, everyone can revive but you'll never get revived and you never know who's on the other team as all the operators r the same regardless of what team you're on.
No voice chat, no leaderboard, the interface gives you a headache and the maps are horrific.
Do not buy this game. Maybe in like 2 years, it'll be ok but DICE and EA just scammed everybody and it seems like the Battlefieldld franchise might be toast.
