This show changed my life completely..no joke. When I saw Julie and the Phantoms on my Netflix trending page, I was drawn to it. After the FIRST episode, I was genuinely shocked and amazed how well the story line, characters, and music was so well introduced just in the pilot. Sure the lines are a bit cheesy, but that's because it IS a kid show after all and I think the older people who watch it have to keep that in mind. Although it is a kid show, the topics represented are very touching and appropriately demonstrated. Representation is definitely not missed in this show especially with a Puerto Rican young woman lead. Julie and the Phantoms has the perfect mix to make you laugh, cry, feel touched, and seen/valued. Every since this show came out, I have been happier and more optimistic. I can't believe Netflix hasn't renewed a show that has touched so many of its fans..such a shame. Netflix. Do better.
