By far the worst movie of the franchise. The writing is bad, slow, and uninspired. I don't blame the writer, he's awesome, I blame the company behind it for pushing the franchise in an unnatural direction in order to gain woke points.
Not only is the writing bad, but the new merchandise characters are bad as well. Nia is perfect, and Ace is a jerk and a pain to watch, the rest are forgettable. Even Thomas in this film is horrible. He is easily tricked by Ace, and is so miserable in some parts of the film. Thomas has been upset a lot in the franchise, but there was usually something to make it happy in the end. This movie doesn't have that.
Sir Topham Hatt is miserable as well. He goes around the world searching for Thomas. The movie ends with him on a ship, looking sick to his stomach. Topham's whole story in this movie is unneeded as it doesn't affect anything, and just plain bad.
As I already mentioned, the writing is slow. It's only a few minutes longer than Journey Beyond Sodor, yet JBS flies by. JBS may not have been perfect, but as least it was entertaining. I can see why the writing was slow, because how can you focus on a locamotive going to different countries with no real goal in mind? His goal is to see the world, but he has no goal in the countries he visits. From experience, if you have no real direction to where the story is going, it's going to drag and go down in quality.
The worst part about this movie is that it affects the series as well. Starting in Season 22, half the episodes feature Thomas in different parts in the world. This wouldn't be bad, since Thomas probably causes over half the accidents on Sodor. However, Thomas is in the Sodor episodes as well. Thomas, MAKE UP YOUR MIND. WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE? This is pretty inconsistent. I like my stories to go forward, not jump to different moments in time.
But at the end of the day, this movie did accomplish one thing: it managed to be worse than Misty Island Rescue. I never thought that was possible. I used to not like Sharon Miller's stories, but after seeing this movie, Sharon deserves a literature prize. At least her writing kept some of the things that kept Thomas special. And at least her writing was so bad it was good. Wish I could say the same for Big World! Big Adventures!. It's so bad that it deserves to be thrown in the trash.
At the end of the day, this movie is horrible as I mentioned. Everything about this is bad. Not even the Narrator wanted part in it. Avoid this movie at all cost, unless you're planning to use it as a torture device for prisons, or you'er just that bored. 0/10, would not watch again.
