Aside from it being incredibly long, which I believe was needed to fit the entire story line without taking away from plot... could have been accomplished in sequels, four hours is way too much in one sitting. Yet the film always had my attention. understanding that "PART 1 and so on was the time to pause and hit the head, grab more popcorn and a drink... possibly a meal.
The cinematography was brilliant. Seamlessly melting CGI with live action footage where I, the viewer, was inthralled, engrossed to what was happening, ease to follow dialog and didn't pick apart the mistakes.... if there were any. They got by me if so. The dramatic lighting, Rembrandt looking scenes with vignettes and use of depth of field and focal points kept my eyes moving around the screen. True to solid art form visually.
