Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s every movie is a visual treat , so is Padmavati . The star cast give their best . Music is perfect companion to action , romance and art . Some scenes lack originality though . Many a times the portrayal of Alauddin Khilji ( Ranveer Singh ) seems inspired by the very famous Game of thrones, especially Khal Drogo’s barbarism and fur coats of the crows . A more beefed up look would have suited Ratan Singh’s ( Shaheed Kapoor) character . Rani Padmavati is essayed beautifully with costume , choreography and dialogues, but moves swiftly as opposed to the grace expected of a queen . VFX and war scenes are decent . Initial archery hunting scenes of Padmavati and Ratan Singh’s meeting in the forest suddenly remind of a few scenes of Hollywood’s Avatar , though not as blue . The khalibali song seems rather unnecessary and seems only to give a chance to Ranveer Singh to essay his dancing skills .
Despite of this , the magnum opus is worth the watch , as it portrays the director’s passion and the cast’s earnestness .
