After the first few shows, the methodology of judging was altered to give greater a weight to the public votes, and to reduce the weight of the judges' scores in the tallies used for elimination. While this may have initially increased the show's viewer numbers, it has ultimately proven to be a VERY BAD DECISION. The show is now very well established, and there is no longer justification for such "weighted" voting. In the latest half dozen shows there were numerous instances when skilled celebrity dancers were eliminated while far less skilled, far more clumsy celebrity dancers were retained... purely on the basis of either public "pity" voting, or "infatuation" voting. The latest example of this was the elimination of celebrity Juan Pablo Di Pace whose dancing skills are nearly equal to the professionals, and who has received a record number of perfect scores from the show judges. Meanwhile the "popularity contest" vote has kept celebrity Bobby Bones in the competition despite a marked inability to dance and a self-identification as "the sideshow". Unless voting methodology is repaired immediately, and a meaningful "weight" for dancing skill allows final votes to once more accurately reflect the ACTUAL DANCING SKILLS the celebrities, the show will undoubtedly lose countless viewers - including myself - who have become disgusted with the injustices being showcased season after season!
Pay attention ABC - Correct the system so that the truly skilled dancers get final scores which accurately reflect their abilities, or say goodbye to another show completely.
