Highly disappointing.
The story was good but barely got to express itself because of the way it was presented and portrayed.
The story revolves around the life of villagers who depend on this forest and their deities. They remain skeptical about the new forest officer (who represents the government) and put their faith in the local landlord (who represents the higher class of society). The villagers face challenges in protecting their lands and forests from their enemies. After a lot of actions, they manage to protect and attain the properties that used to be rightfully theirs. In short, it is about the poor versus the rich, the age-old movie topic.
Unfortunately, nothing of the challenges or the role of the characters are portrayed properly in the movie.
For almost 1:30 hours the movie portrayed:
Toxic Masculinity
Encouraged smoking and alcohol addiction
Sexual Harassment (though the heroine seems to enjoy it)
Almost pornographic scenes
Violence that came with Barbs & Derogatory Comments
Obviously, I got confused for a while about who was the hero or the villain given the way the main character acted (his actions made local goons look like saints)
What the movie should present:
What are the duties and concerns of the forest officer (he was an honest person but the film made him look like a corrupted government employee)
How the villages were dependent upon the forest and their ways of preserving it.
The clash between the officer and villagers concerned the preservation of the forest. For which the above issues need to be portrayed. But of course, it wasn’t. Instead, a lot of action scenes merely ensued 1 after another.
Lastly, the mythical story and figures were quite fascinating but were loosely attached to the movie.
Hence, another Indian movie scored high without a good story!
