I love to reread this series I was excited about it coming to Netflix. Unfortunately I watched it. I actually like the actors and they did great with the show however, this was supposed to be based on the book series. Well, I can definitely tell you it was not based on the book except for names of characters and very few things thrown in here and there. I was beyond disappointed. I mean the tree scene with Mel that was one of the best parts in the book. No one is recognizable in this show. Mel and Jack are the heart and soul of the series. They sure weren’t that in the show. Making charmane a pivotal character now no no way. She wasn’t even a supporting character in the book. She was thrown in to create drama. The drama she did create was unnecessary and annoying. The town isn’t even the wonderful supportive people they were in the book. It’s just sad. If you want a new series to watch it’s ok. If you were looking for the the virgin river book written by ms carr this is not it.
