I, like many others, grew up watching He-man and the master's of the universe. When I watched He-man put it all on the line to save Eternia, I was transported back in time. I waited for the smoke to clear, certain he would be fine. But he wasn't. He died. The power sword being 2 seperate swords was unexpected. Magic dying was unexpected. King Randor and Teela's response to Adam being He-Man was completely unexpected. The anger is somewhat understandable, but the grief never translated.
Seeing Teela develop was nice, but it takes her being forced into the room with people she's angry with to get a resolution. The resolution is always kiss her behind or deal with her constant anger. She never attempts to understand why Adam kept it from her, or to meet people half way. Adam had to give up his hero's reward to get Teela's forgiveness!
Evil Lyn's character development was much better in my opinion. Even though she rejoined Skeletor, I was most impressed with her story arc. Her and Orko were gold! Cringer was ok, but not as much of a fraidy cat.
I really don't know how to feel about Adam yet. There's parts of his character I like, parts that seem like a contradiction, and parts that leave me scratching my wondering who decided he should be like that. There were lots of weird and interesting developments. The animation is excellent.
Mark Hamill did an excellent job voicing Skeletor. Like most, I wish there had been more He-man and Skeletor. For the most part I didn't love or hate the show, which is why I gave it a middle of the road review. I'm trusting that Kevin Smith is going to deliver the goods, but is taking the long road to get there for character development. As a continuance of the original though he dropped the ball on one constant through the original series. There's no moral of the story wrap up at the end of each episode.
