MILD SPOILERS!
I personally love this book. The only thing that is holding me back from giving this thing a full five stars is the repetition in a few of the chapters. Namely the kiss/make out scenes. In almost every scene where the pair kiss, the phrase 'moaned into his mouth' or something like that is said.
I understand that there aren't a lot of pg-13 ways to write a scene like this, but after seeing & reading the same sentence in two consecutive chapters, it honestly stuck out to me.
That being said, this book is adorable, & the dynamic between the main characters is very complex. One is struggling with long-term knowledge of his identity, while the other struggles with issues resulting from past trauma involving their family. Then at the rising action of the book, the situations are seemingly switched. The former now having family troubles, & the latter realising the truth of his sexuality. Their problems parallel.
This essentially lets one help the other, because one side already knows how the other feels. Though- take the previous statement with a grain of salt, as it's more of an informed guess than fully backed up & researched statement,
Overall, Date Me Bryson Keller is a more or less classic love story, that comments on society's homophobia, & how many of the LGBTQ+ community (such as myself), are faced with many trials & tribulations just becuase of who they love. & about how love knows no bounds, & can lead is into many things, for better, or for worse.
