I've coached over 90 seasons in various sports, at various levels of competition, and I still found much to learn from this video. I recommended it to ALL of my current players, my assistant coaches and our parents. Even people in the arts, business community and teachers who may not even be that interested in sports could learn a great deal about achieving greatness by viewing this compelling video, since it's scope goes beyond mere sport's competition.
Raw talent, creativity/problem solving, determination/effort and an almost obsessive passion/love of what one does are certainly crucial, but there are two other factors that the video brings out
: proper coaching that can take one to the next level and support of the family behind one's efforts.
One area, I wish the video did deal with in furthering total greatness was the attitude of the culture about a particular sport in which one participates. Canada values hockey much more than the USA, so Gretsky had an advantage there that he wouldn't have had growing up in Oklahoma. A Pele raised in Maine would never have been a soccer super star, and a Jerry Rice raised in Kenya would certainly not be a football legend.
That aside, this video needs to be seen by anyone desiring to be great or helping to foster greatness and others.
