The casting was phenomenal in my opinion. Sylvio Dante was great! Carrado Soprano was spot-on! Livia Soprano was absolutely brilliant! Tony Soprano (the young boy) looked just like AJ from the show! But Michael Gandolfini, as the teenage Tony, made his dad proud in my opinion!! He just nailed it. The best scene, for me, was between Gandolfini and Farmiga (Tony's young mom, Livia) where she was trying to connect with him through his favorite food and conversation. It perfectly illustrated their struggle to bond at a seemingly most basic level. Young Tony ends the discussion by saying, "You accuse!"...or something to that affect. He had the perfect inflection and intonation there. You can just see the framework of the "future Tony" being poured in concrete with this interaction. I came away from this film feeling as though the crafting of Tony's character and connection with his Uncle Dickie Moltisanti was done with great care and thought. Some of the main storyline felt a bit driven by the current social sensibilities, but did lend some insight into some of the adult Tony's feelings towards those from alternate races from his. Good film overall.
