Apple's version of the Foundation is, well, different than the books. I think the only connection to the trillogy is Harry Seldon and Pysohistsorical Mathmatics. The story line being presented is very different than the books, but I get why. The Foundation Trilogy was written between 1942 - 1949, and published as a trilogy from 1951 - 1953. The prose of that period just wouldn't translate to today's story telling. The foundation trilogy is very cerebral, not as action packed. Basically, kept in it's original form, it wouldn't sell today.
Clearly modernized with female protagonists, action, lot's of CG animations, it's an ambitious undertaking and I hope they continue. As far as story goes, it's not the Foundation, and doesn't seem to care that their story line has nothing really to do with the original tale, just borrowed bits and pieces to make as saleable product today.
