I generally enjoy Christian movies but this one fell short for me.
I had a few problems with this movie. 1-Sophie. She was a hypocrite. She hid a key her dad had been looking for and that act delayed them leaving and attributed to the dad dying. Then, she had the nerve ask forgiveness from her siblings, yet judged her fiance because he did what he felt he had to do. She seems to hold others to a very high standard that she doesn't hold herself up to. 2-Not enough Diversity. The second issue I have is that there is very little diversity in this movie. The majority of the characters are white with the exception of the dream wedding.
I understand this is based on a book, but it's tiring to see "Christian" movies that are lacking in representing other ethnicites in more than just stereotypical roles; especially when the BIBLE clearly describes Jesus as non-white. I get the jist of the movie. Holding onto faith when it seems like life is throwing out curve balls and it seems hopeless. As a Christian, your faith should sustain you and how you live is important.
