Was really looking forward to this. Did not know it would be two parts. I don’t plan on seeing part 2 in the cinema. Stood up at the end and turned around. The entire cinema was underwhelmed. Sound was over edited and so the vocals “fakified” to create a wickedism. If you were going to stretch it out to a mini-series and thresh out the book rather than recreate the musical.

Granted I’m American- but I don’t find the book amusing. It is full of slap stick cliches and “lists” that are supposed to bring laughs, but any driving story seems to be missing. I’m reading with a grade 3 ESL learner- and he definitely doesn’t find it funny as every bit of slang needs to be explained. My son (9) started reading it as well, while it brought a few laughs he was soon happy to abandon it and return to the equally slapstick, but much more action packed pages of Captain Underpants.
