I watched this movie a few years ago with my friends when it was released. We were all big fans of horror genre, especially The Conjuring franchise, and we were all very excited to see The Nun.
In the end, we all left the cinema feeling disappointed as we were all expecting to *finally* see the storyline/background of Valak, the demon-nun who appeared in The Conjuring 2, and that was exactly what we didn't get.
The entire movie relied solely on jumpscares and eerie, dark scenes. There were SO many plot holes and unanswered questions, like "Who was Valak before they became evil?" "What was their motive?" "How is the storyline connected to Sister Charlotte (the nun in Annabelle 2)?" "Why did Sister Irene constantly dream about Valak?" And what the hell is that hell-gate??????
:( Wish it could've been a bit scarier.
