I am dismayed that certain publications are giving this movie bad reviews, not based on the movie itself, but because it is "faith based" and somehow right-wing. I even read reviews that labeled the movie as a "q-anon fever dream" and similar disparagements. I read these reviews after I saw the movie; watching it, I had no idea that it was allegedly "faith based." Now, that I have learned more about Angel Studios and the motivations behind the Homeland Security agent it portrays (who, I learned later, was motivated by his faith), I understand the "faith-based" label, is meant pejoratively, in some of these reviews. Let me just say, I hardly sensed any religious flavor to the film at all. And, as a non-religious person, I must honestly acknowledge that genuine religious faith (not the fake faith so many display) motivates more good than "no-faithism" ever could.
As for the movie itself, it is top notch. The editing, the acting, the cinematography, the storytelling, the way it explores a difficult subject is as just about as good as it gets. The story it tells is real and disturbing but depicted without gratuitous scenes and with deference to the viewer's sensibilities. If nothing else, this movie exposes something dark and pernicious that is happening right now and if the exposure motivates ordinary folks, governments, and law enforcement to act to end this evil, then it has done good in the world.
