book was so much bettter. the script had no tension or drama and the direction was straight out of a mortuary. yawn

A super FUN movie, one of the best I've seen in 5 years. It deserves more attention, as it is not just a rehash and the cinematography is entrancing. Everything other than Emily Blunt -- who sucks the charisma from every scene with her dry ice acting -- is great! The stunt men have a ton of heart and Ryan Gosling glows. The script is pedantic in a few places, but Gosling picks up the pace as long as he doesn't have to share the screen with Emily! See it, it's so much better on a big screen with popcorn.

This season was focused on gender discrimination and on the neurotic family headed by the obsessive father. Love the Joel character although Midge does not deserve him. However the constant swearing is unnecessary, cheap and grating. The characters are snide, unethical and and angry. Susie is especially repulsive. I guess this is a reflection of Hollywood’s cesspool environment. Also — why is it not ok to make fun of Jews or Muslims but ok to trash Catholic rituals?
