I have been an Elvis fan since I can remember. I was 21 when he died, had he lived longer, I would have moved heaven and earth to see him in Vegas. I had my doubts prior to seeing this movie. I tried to go in with an open mind, not to expect too much fabrication, as I knew that would ruin the movie for me. Close to 3 hours was a half hour too long. The first hour was a little slow, but the story picked up and I enjoyed the second half. The music, the costumes, the energy were fantastic. Needed more Elvis songs throughout the movie, after all, it was about Elvis. Austin Butler, wow. His performance was without a doubt, spectacular. There were moments I could not tell Austin from the real Elvis. He is the best Elvis I have seen to date. Did not like Tom Hanks as the Colonel. And what’s with the Colonel’s accent?? Love Tom Hanks, but he was miscast. The ending, showing the real life Elvis, was touching and a wonderful tribute. I didn’t think I’d get emotional, but the last few minutes made me cry. Sad ending for such a phenomenally talented man. ❤️
