I didn't quite realise the meaning of the movie until the end. And after searching some social media sights for reviews, it all came together.
The ratings of this movie are too low. Most people hating this movie didn't get the meaning: the trans allegory, the idea that you can be who you want despite the societal norms, they didn't get it.
If you have ever felt like an outcast, like the weird kid, or simply not made to be what you were born as, you may like this movie.
Some people burst out in tears, some didn't quite get it until it was further explained - like me - but after learning its message, I'm impressed.
The visuals are great. The camera work, the colours, the eye contact with the audience at certain points, it's great.
I wouldn't say this is a horror at all, its more a bit eerie at times and falls into magic realism.
Either way, I do think this movie was quite good and has a very important message: you still have time to be who you want to be.
