I have thoroughly enjoyed the first season. I am a fan of lord of the rings and the fantasy genre. If you are as well just keep in mind that nothing can ever replace the lord of the rings. Watch this series with fresh eyes and let it be what it is. I think there are a lot of lord of the rings "purists" who get really bent out of shape when something in the rings of power does not meet the exact detail of the books. That is a shame really. I think rings of power does a great job of capturing the essence of middle earth. Amazon has clearly expanded upon preconcieved ideas of what/how certain races like an elf or dwarf should be and some people wont like that, but dont let that get in the way of your enjoyment of the show. (Arondir is awesome!) You will likely need a couple episodes to get use to the new characters as the pace of the show is a slow build. The set design, costumes, scenery, make up, special effects and music are all top notch. The whole world does come to life through this. If i had any minor complaint its that the acting is a bit dodgy at times. Sometimes its good. Sometimes its meh. Expectations are quite high considering the budget and I am hopefull this will change as actors grow into their characters. Unfortunately I dont know if they picked the right actor (morfyyd clark) for galadriel. Overall it great and i am looking forward to next season!
