The book is wrong on many details , besides the fact that is full of chatty empty chapters . And heavy blocked writing . At times better , at times worse , it is a mediocre reading .
Wrongs - Pasternak couldn’t have his teeth porcelain veneered , it was unavailable in Soviet Union in 1950ties . Only basic dental care was available .
Party apparatchik could not have worn loafers .
Only Oxford type shoes with laces existed .
I can go on with other notes , but it is enough .

The film has some good moments and weak ones , especially the end . The problem is also in the casting - Isabelle Hupert looks the same age as her son and the Marisa Tomei is too old to play the role she is playing .
Costume design suffers also - most of the costumes are unflattering to the actors bodies and have no style . But it has some moments that are touching .
