The acting was terrible. The main character delivers a lack luster performance. It seems like he was more focused on delivering his lines then actually making the character Boogie come to life. The dialogue between the characters was unbelievable. Especially the scenes with Boogies love interest (Eleanor). I mean I'm from the Bay Area(I think the main character Boogie is also) I get the Asian culture. The Bay Area is filled with Asians from every nationality. Many of them grew up influenced by black culture(Hip Hop). But still it came off as disingenuous. Although the plot is basic, I do enjoy them showing a different representation of Asian culture and their struggles. The casting was bad. I mean Boogie looks to damn old to be playing a 18 year old. And the father looks so much older than the mother. And maybe I missed something but I'm not exactly sure are they Taiwanese or Chinese. Or was he a mixture of both. And it's about basketball but the basketball scenes are terrible.
