After re-reading the book, after some 40+ years, I would agree that, though it's a great story, it needs updating to stay readable and relatable but what was done to it by Apple+ is a crime. The plot is lost in the non-stop virtue signaling and wokish character changes. The costuming is ridiculous, the dialogue is silly. I was able to make it through two and half episodes before I had to give up. The people who adapted this story for Apple should really have taken some lessons from The Expanse, Game of Thrones and Dune. A plot and be made socially relevant without ruining the original. This thing is unwatchable.
