Look, this movie isn’t trying to be an Oscar nominated film nor would it be. But it is a light, heartwarming, and quirky rom com. This film is definitely, (like Lindsay Lohan’s last Netflix rom com) very “hallmarky”. Many aspects of the film were obviously neglected due to the budget most likely being devoted to other areas. For instance, the poorly edited photographs that clearly look photoshopped, the FaceTime calls where the screen is obviously added in during editing, and the obvious green screen backdrops in some scenes. However, this film has many great and enjoyable aspects. Lindsay did well at playing this role and was able to captivate the screen. The actor who played James (I’ve forgotten his real name) was great! (Which was expected because I’ve seen him in other projects and his acting is always phenomenal!) He truly made this film come alive and was definitely one of the best elements of the film. The other actors however, subpar to say the least. No flavour, no authenticity at all. Just bland acting unfortunately. The script was not doing them any favours though either so I don’t blame them for that! However, one major highlight of this film was its filming location: Ireland. Such a stunningly beautiful country and this film truly showcases a lot of its natural beauty and landscapes. Overall, this film is a cute love story, with some funny moments, lovely scenery, and a good message to speak up for yourself and take control of your own life and do what makes YOU happy. I know some people rag on Lindsay these days since she’s made a comeback to acting, but I honestly think it’s great that after her tumultuous past, she’s healed, and that she’s just enjoying her life and taking on projects that are happy and heartwarming like this. I see nothing wrong with it! The world needs a little more positivity!
