Art With Heart

This may be a true reflection of a series of events but there was very little for the audience to attach to. It’s good if the characters are confusing or questionable because that is real life. However, it was difficult to find the hook to keep me engaged in this movie. There were flashes of good scenes but they stopped short of delivering depth and then we would be moved on to another timeline.I didn’t learn anything new, feel anything or experience something breathtaking- it just was there. Another example of Hollywood using power, money and status to decide what is “in”.

I didn’t appreciate this movie as much as some others, I applaud the premise and the self - examination that this movie provokes. I just didn’t believe the characters and I think this was partly due to the script and when it was produced. Still worth a look but not if you don’t like torture scenes.

If you understand emotional intelligence you will probably like this series. The flashbacks highlight the very real trauma of her childhood and the ensuing impact it has upon her adulthood. I love that the protagonist made mistakes when trying to survive. Remember when the guy on ‘Alone’ lost his fire starter? People make mistakes when under duress. I thought the cast were authentic in their roles and as their character developed, I better understood their decisions and actions. Beautiful cinematography, what a pristine landscape and big props for acknowledgments to the people of that land.

Ugh, terrible movie. The sidekick was destined to be killed from the beginning and was over- acting, delivering messily fast dialogue and was not disciplined in his approach. Arnie is always portraying these type of characters and he’s like lead. I just don’t believe him as an actor. Several plot holes, many flashbacks and clichéd slow motion shots later, the film ended with a very predictable final scene. As others have mentioned, I too, fast-forwarded through this dreary movie. Watch a Sniper or S.W.A.T movie instead which will at least have some action…

I’m really undecided if I loved this or hated it or if I feel nothing at all. About wants, desires and needs. Love, love lost, love forbidden, love unfulfilled. Circumstances and consequences. Tragedy and triumph. Some of the songs were absolutely annoying, though anyone watching will probably have ‘Agony’ stuck in their head for a while and will sing it out at the most inappropriate times. At least I can cross it off my list. I think it is too dark and sinister for children and downright creepy when the children were interacting with the adults. Emily Blunt and James Corden were a great pairing and the main reason I lasted the distance.
