I don’t care about the politics surrounding the game from either side. I have no issue with developers telling the stories they want to tell, but the execution here was poor. I also don’t understand why fans are so eager to defend a multi-million dollar corporation. The storyline is forgettable, and while the combat starts off intriguing, it quickly becomes repetitive—you end up fighting the same enemies for the 20th time, running the same fetch quests in a world that, while visually appealing, feels completely unimmersive.
I was so excited for this game. I’ve been an Obsidian fan since I was a kid and have enjoyed everything I’ve played from them until now. Politics aside, the game just isn’t good. They had all the resources to make a masterpiece, but they played it too safe and let ego get in the way. I wish I could get a refund, but I sunk too much time into it, hoping I’d be proven wrong.
Oh well—high hopes for Outer Worlds 2!
