An amazing first season that takes you on a deep dive into the author Sapkowski's fantasy world. However, what truly shines through the most in this dark and cruel world is Henry Cavill as the Witcher. He plays the role of Geralt perfectly, enough to even please the die hard game fans. He accels in the action scenes and his realistic yet morose attitude, speckled with humor, helps to ground this high flying fantasy epic. The only negative is that all the deep lore and politics that you are dropped in between leaves you with nouns and relations which can leave you scratching your head and confused. But those who dare to watch more than the first few episodes, (or are already familiar with the novels or games) will find a show which, though at first, tries to prove itself equal to game of thrones, ends as the beginning to a unique and spectacular fantasy epic.
