Is it as perfect as the original, no, but it is as good as it could be, yes! It is beyond rare that a sequel to a virtually perfect film let alone a musical play anywhere nearer as good as the original. Here the team behind Mary Poppins Returns takes the template of the original and twists it ever-so-slightly to make it its own thing. Very well done but I do hope if they ever make a third they go completely off the rails. Making perfect imperfect can really show how beauty and joy can be found in the strangest of places. Time for Mary to return again!
