While looking amazing and like everything the next iteration of a Nintendo sports game should be, it is mostly garbage, that is, if you're playing online.
For starters, there simply aren't enough sports. Where in Wii Sports Resort there were well over twenty possible sports. NSS is limited to half of that, if not less.
When playing globally, sports like Bowling and Golf have elimination rounds where after every 3 shots players are eliminated based on their ranking for that match. This is unfair and infuriating. Especially after the first three shots, as a game could always pick up for a player. Even if the player ends up losing, what was the harm in allowing all the players to finish a match all the way to the end?
And while ranking players isn't a problem, it becomes a problem when low ranked players are in a match with high ranked players. They stand no chance of making it past the first round in bowling or golf, and when they inevitably do poorly against more skilled players, their rank goes DOWN as a result.
And most infuriatingly in bowling is that when playing globally, players are not able to choose whether they play the obstacle course lanes or the standard lanes.
The game feels like a lot of thought was put into the look of it but not the actual gameplay of it. It's almost as if they didn't think about how to keep players WANTING to play their game.
