I have seen the first season and liked it. I think AMC is doing great at making new series. Specially one based on a book i haven't read. As far as the feel for diversity of the episodes, that's understandable. The series has 5 or 6 directors so the episodes might have a feeling of more significance than others for audience members and fans that have read the novel. This is understandable (for myself) since it's ridiculous to compare the author of the novel to the author of a screenplay which is based upon, and much less the director of a movie or a tv series, to the author of a book.
