Like taking the social message of the Tamil movie Aruvi and amplifying it a 100 times,
Joker is a deep character study of the mentally ill who've become utterly disenfranchised and stomped on by modern 'civilization', without ever feeling like a documentary. It's the first DC film that comes close to the mystical vibe of the first two Batman Nolan films without ever giving you that masala comic vibe(like Marvel).
Joaquin Phoenix captivates you from the very first frame, and empathises and engulfs you throughout the film. It cannot be put into words the amount of dedication and transformation he has done to give another dimension to the Joker role. It's his masterpiece nonetheless. Stunning cinematography and poignant editing leaves a lasting impression too.
Joker, a fascinating subliminal movie which won't satisfy you like a 'Hollywood Blockbuster' but by simply being a well crafted character driven film. Deeply and timely needed for American audiences. Empty your mind off all the CGI comic formulas and comparisons to previous joker actors, and you'll enjoy it.
Cheers!
