Having seen the average review score and been underwhelmed with a number of recent movies (including Mission Impossible and Superman), I was planning to give this one a miss. Luckily, my wife wanted to watch something and Fantastic Four isn't out for another week, so I was in for a pleasant surprise.
I'd liken it to Argylle, which I recall also polarised audiences, but I clearly have a soft spot for this kind of movie. It wasn't trying to be serious, but I thought it was a sincere, well executed comedy. While totally different, I'd put it in the list of 2025 movies I enjoyed, which includes Sinners, Final Destination: Bloodlines, and the F1 movie with Brad Pitt. I'd recommend giving it a try.
