The author states this is fiction. It sure is. I WAS THERE. Yes, in Vietnam. She failed to write about the sexual harassment, sexual molestation, misogyny, and rape that was in our daily lives. There are a few particles of truth here and there, but they are distorted by the author's misperception of constant parties, drugs, and drinking. She takes quick aim to blame Americans and our bombs for killing civilians yet forgets to tell how the Vietcong committed the same atrocities. If these medical personnel actually lived like this, they enjoyed luxuries I didn't have. She didn't actually talk to a number of nurses, just read other accounts. There is so much that is missing, warped, and sanitized in her narrative. As a civilian, the author made a feeble attempt but failed miserably. This book is an insult to any woman who served in the military, past and present.
