The only reason for one star is the actors were good. None of the storylines went anywhere, each story was bizarre and disconnected. We feel like we wasted our Friday date night - a complete waste of time AND MONEY!!!!

My husband and I both LOVED the movie. Other than knowing that Mark Wahlburg was playing the bad guy before gong , I wouldn’t have known at first. Otherwise not predictable - worried about her the other bad guys were the rest of the movie, including the pilot talking and guiding the deputy in how to fly. I worried the whole time if he was a good guy or a bad guy. And seeing the movie on a big screen made you feel like you’re flying through Alaska (and I know that the scenery was added in later) but they did a beautiful job, felt like I was looking at Alaska . I was so tense by the end of the movie - I truly wasn’t sure what was going to happen - I loved mark wahlburg’s last scene!!!! All the official critics have given terrible reviews - but don’t listen to them. The other people we talked with when leaving the theater also loved it!

So glad we were able to see the movie in theaters - we thought we had missed our chance until we saw a show January 3. We thought the movie would be mostly comedy but it was so much more!! I read negative comments of people comparing the movie with the book and I don’t agree at all. The heavy emotional aspects were balanced with comedy but neither overshadowed the other. The social situations depicted are so real (makes you feel sad) but they dealt with them in a funny and, at the same time, heartwarming way. The little actresses playing Beth, Alice and Gladys were my favorites, so amazing - so genuine they didn’t seem to be acting. But my favorite was Imogene - she brought me to tears (a lot of tears) All the children were exceptional - I can’t think of any other movie with so many children who made me laugh and cry - the acting was so good!! It’s hard to imagine getting all the kids in to such harmony!! (perfect directing) My husband and I sat in the theater til the beautiful Christmas music and the credits finished. We’re grandparents now, raised six children and our hearts were filled with such a happy joy. This movie is laughter and love - the best

Hard to follow the actual storyline because the development of this new/different story was jumbled and not focused. The development of the characters was so dragged out and mixed up with the minor characters. It was hard to figure out who was important to focus on because a lot of time was spent on “nobodies”. And very little time was spent on the actual investigation and hard work of the FBI/Texas rangers Too much wasted time focused on irreverent activities. The character of Ernest was portrayed as way too ignorant or dumb - he actually couldn’t keep going for his uncle after the house blew up. Could have been done so much better

Loved the actors! They dealt with their emotional traumas in a hard but positive way! It’s good to see a movie that’s not about evil and/or killing. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and would live to learn to fly fish now!!!

Surprisingly scriptural - but I wonder if non believers will follow the “flashbacks” very well. I wish there had been a chronological history at the beginning to give a stronger foundation for non or new Christians that would have helped them have a stronger understanding. I still would highly recommend seeing this movie and watch through all the credits to the very end!!
