I’ll admit, the movie was a bit lackluster but it was good overall. There were a few jump scares that were rightfully earned. Story could have used a bit more and the daughters were incredibly annoying characters but I had to remind myself that they were children who had never been in Africa let alone dealing with a rampaging lion. What could have made the movie better would have been improved storyline, a bit more exploration into the mind of the lion as it was hunting people, and maybe an explanation on why Idris Elba’s character kept slowly dreaming of seeing his wife. Like I get it to some extent and I anticipated at one point maybe he’d see his wife who would give him some epiphany but no, he just finally sees her in a dream and the credits roll. Ending a little lacking too.
