It was nice, albeit tragic, to see Amy's character undergo the development that empathy fosters. I found her to be very self-centered, selfish, and oblivious throughout the first several episodes but then toward the end, she seemed to understand that oftentimes life requires us to make sacrifices for our loved ones. Lino's illness and certainly motherhood changed her, and her strength shined toward the end.
This series was a poignant and utterly heartbreaking expression of love and of the human experience. Several times I found myself wondering what I would have done under those circumstances and each time my heart broke for them.
Thank you to Tembi Locke for sharing your story with us; it made me love more completely.
