The length is not an issue as more could have been done with it, it's the one-dimensonal characters, unrealistic 'twee' dialogue and no characters evoke any sympathy. How someone as intelligent and independent as Helena could fall for Nick is a stretch.
Lacks the depth and realism of her previous novels and simmers along with some unnecessary meandering which doesn't really add any depth.
