Iceland Kahn

The Father, a movie that well reflects the subtlety and profoundness of typical British directing and acting. On top of the excellent directing and acting, the movie is rich in images symbolic of disordered time, characters, places, scenes, events and relationships. It deliberately wants audiences to get confused about all of the above to feel how an Alzheimer patients feels like. Hopkins and Coleman are bravo in their deeply touching and cannot-tell-if-it-is-real-or-acting performances.

This is the best "foreign" series I've watched so far, not too dry, too fast, too slow, too sentimental, or too much family stuff. All is in the right proportion. The evil characters are made complex with both dark and human sides. I especially like the fact that they don't joke around when they are at work. Among all, I like the housewife Janete the most. She is so real, like a next-door neighbor, and her acting is superb and convincing, right at the point! The leading actress is, of course, portrayed as a smart, tough and action-oriented character, but she gets a bit too far by acting alone in the end. I can't wait to watch the season 2.

I have trouble seeing a historic novel adapted with all racial actors and actresses irrelevant to the epic! It ruins and spoils the sense of history and story just for the sake of political correctness! Ridiculous! What has made this movie even less watchable is the choice of the male protagonist. If it were him, I could wait another seven years! He can't even stand straight, not to say being a marine official!!!! Great disappointment
