This movie was hair raising from start to finish. Firstly, I’d like to say that I had to hold my tears back since the start of the movie. The movie depicts a boy facing his guilt from the death of his sister. The amount of foreshadowing, ambiguity and symbolism left me mentally, and emotionally, exhausted once the movie ended. Since it’s a movie based off of World War II, I knew there was a slim chance for a positive outcome by the end of the movie. However, I still rooted for the protagonists of the movie, hoping that they’d make it together simply because of how human they were. The positive parts of their lives, such as living to see the next day, put a smile on my face; and in turn the negative ones really dragged my emotions through the ground. All in all, I am able to see the really high effort and talent put into this movie, and I would definitely watch it again in the future when I can another heavy blow to my heart.
