These people in the reviews saying "this isn't about societal issues, this is about the Christmas spirit and doing good deeds and everyone who says otherwise is missing the point" have fallen for the shameless propaganda wheel. The point of these movies is not "doing good for other people."
You can tell because every single one, like this one, "coincidentally" hits the exact same points: those city liberals are toxic money-grabbers who can't survive or understand things like bus travel, and who are always glued to their phones. They're universally soulless and scummy and don't care about family.
Not like us good conservative countryside folk. We're perfect communities of welcoming people who love everyone and are extremely nice to that one token black person or family in need--even if we only use them for props to show how nice we are and never actually let them have any character development.
I've lived in both areas for significant periods of time. In my experience, it's the total opposite - the city folk are the ones supporting each other and creating social programs. The "good country folk" are the ones who are a LOT more likely to take out the guns the second a needy person steps onto their property. City folks are kind, but not nice; country folks are nice, but not kind.
I would be so ashamed to have any part in the production of such shameless propagandist fakery, even before you get to issues of cheesy acting and plot predictability.
