What made the film so special?
Kiddish and cheap publicity stunts probably. A missionary campaign on feminism and unnecessary endorsement of Late Rituporno Ghosh, who has no connection with the film or story other than the name of the film which is the name of his house.
A story of a dominating husband and a psycho housewife can not be 'the world of Rituporno Ghosh'.
Glorifying the acts of killing her ailing mother-in-law and husband can't be justified as ways of communicating grief and pain of an abused housewife. A person like Rituporno Ghosh should not be drawn in any reference in this context at least.
His way of portraying women is quite familiar to everyone and truly admired by viewers for many years.
Moreover, the character Sujata remained unknown to viewers because no effort was given to establish her past life, experience and aspirations. As a result, a vague discourse of screenplay finally failed to justify the actual concept overall.
