The fact that so many give this high ratings show what as low bar that's been set for viewing these days. My spouse and I both started to watch this together. We both were disinterested after just one episode. We came back a few weeks later (after watching a much better series), and pushed our way through the rest of this horribly acted, plodding, wannabe-thriller.
If your idea of intelligent is contrived plot twists that just create story holes that are just insulting to the viewer, and if your idea of suspense is not knowing which character to root for because none of them are likeable, and if you think that edgy means showing gratuitous violence over and over and over... Then yeah this movie is for you.
P.S. the actor who plays Mateo is sorely miscast -- guy has zero acting skills, zero likeability, and has the same stupid, ugly expressions on his face the entire show except the last episode.
