This is probably my favorite Opeth album since Ghost Reveries. While it embraces a fair share of experimental and progressive elements, I think it achieves a greater sense of musical integrity and cohesion. The experimental, jazzy dissonances punctuate the song structures rather than dominate them, allowing the compositions to breathe. The grooves are tight, and the melodies resonated deeply with me—beautiful, haunting, and thoroughly engaging. I can’t wait to listen again and again.
