Joanna Nell's writing style is witty, funny and warm. Her portraits of older women are spot on. She's also a doctor, and in every one of her novels there are medical references or characters, like in this case. The main characters are Heather and Alan, who have just retired after working side by side as GP's for forty years, and are unsure of how to face retirement, both of them having very different ideas of what to do with their free time.
Some paragraphs of this book rely heavily on the author 's own medical experience, and at times I've found that confusing and a bit unnecessary. Nevertheless it's an enjoyable book.
